Dr. Réjean Lapointe is Head of cancer research at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM). He is also the Scientific Director at the Montreal Cancer Institute and professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Université of Montréal.
Dr. Lapointe’s objectives over the past ten years have been oriented towards fundamental and applied research to study the biology of T and B lymphocytes in cancers and to establish a cell therapy program as well as a clinical immunosurveillance platform.
His work focuses on several types of cancer, including those of the breast, ovary, lung, kidney and skin, in order to study the interactions between tumors and the immune system, and to develop new vaccination systems and immunotherapies, to better understand the side effects of immunotherapies.
His strengths in molecular and cellular immunology have also been utilized in the fields of virology and vaccine development, for example in his recent projects to understand immune responses against COVID-19.
