Dr. Sonia del Rincón is Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at McGill University, and is a Principal Investigator in the Cancer Axis at the Lady Davis Institute-Segal Cancer Centre.

Dr. del Rincón received her PhD from McGill University. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, La Jolla, California. Dr. del Rincón’s lab seeks to understand the role of the MNK1/2-eIF4E axis in metastatic diseases such as postpartum breast cancer and melanoma.  Her lab predicts that the MNK1/2-eIF4E axis is responsible for blocking the immune system’s ability to recognize cancer cells. MNK1/2 inhibitors are in clinical trials, thus the discoveries made in her research program will be quickly translated to the clinic.
