Dr. Mark Basik is the Herbert Black professor of Surgical Oncology at McGill University, and a surgical oncologist at the Jewish General Hospital who heads the Cancer Genomics and Translational Research Laboratory at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research.

He is also the co-chair of the National Cancer Institute’s Breast Oncology Local Disease Task Force as well as the lead investigator of several clinical trials. His basic research interests include understanding the causes of resistance to therapy in breast cancer as well as developing new diagnostic blood tests for breast cancer using circulating tumor DNA.
